good question ;-) Speaks for amanda if you didn't need to look up docs for ~10 years! ;-) - - Back then when I did the conversion of all the docs and manpages to docbook-xml (I would have to look up the year) it was the intention that one would be able to generate various output formats from the amanda-docs inside the tarball: pdf, html, manpages, ascii text ... everything from the same source-files (in xml) Your pdf is one of these generated files from back then. - - The xml-manpages went into the releases, other xml-files not. Might be reasonable in some cases as there has been no real update process in the last years for some parts of the "amanda-docs" from my old project (the manpages in the main project-repo have been maintained by JLM and others, sure). Although I still am allowed to use that shiny @amanda.org email address, I am not involved into current documentation anymore due to various reasons. One could ask now "who is then?" As far as I know, the wiki at https://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Main_Page is the main spot to consult for amanda related issues. Please correct me if necessary, but I think it's not as up to date as it could be, especially since amanda-3.4.x releases came out with some rather substantial changes/enhancements (which I am learning by trial and error, not by reading docs or examples -> there should be more). Regarding your original question: I don't know of any current version of that pdf somewhere. One of my intentions back then was to provide a base to build on ... to get amanda-users into contributing and sharing knowhow, tricks and tips in a way I think modern open-source projects should be run like. Seems it needs another effort. Stefan
