This is a minor annoyance, not a real big deal. But it reflects a change in behavior between 3.3.9 and 3.4.5.

My servers are set up with /etc/issue containing "Authorized Use Only". An ssh connection gets this output before authentication. With 3.3.9, that was treated as part of the standard output, and my crontab entry is

25 14 * * * su - amanda -c "/usr/local/sbin/amcheck -m daily" > /dev/null

So no output is generated that would result in an email.

With Amanda 3.4.5, that output is treated as strange or error and generates an email with just that content. Unnecessary noise which, as a constant drip, teaches the admin to ignore that email. When a real error occurs, it will be more likely to be overlooked on a busy afternoon.
