You can do this by figuring out the upper limit of how much space all your backups will need, figuring out what percentage of your tape size that translates to, and then setting both of the flush-threshold values to that percentage, taperflush to 0 (to flush everything), and autoflush to 'yes' (so that it actually flushes the data).

However, keep in mind that for this to work, your holding disk has to be able to hold all of your dumps for a single run simultaneously.
