I'm sorry -- I neglected to mention that those dump to tape DLEs were on a disk on the amanda server, where the holding disk is. I figured that since all the DLEs were the same 'disk distance away', it wouldn't make any difference. But apparently it does. And your explanation explains why. Thanks. -- Glenn English
