Ah I assume there will be no conflict in enabling it -> If amdump runs whilst 
cleaning takes place then it fails and the library will equally know the drive 
is in use by the backup application in the other scenario.

Use auto cleaning. (See the library's manual.)

Auto cleaning ist controlled by the library. Nothing to do manually or by 
amanda.
