Jim,

In previous versions of amavisd-new you would have seen something
like:
quarantine spam-de1cb852189e9ee56dfb8e5e016d0225-20050520-205859-00952-02

The file naming convention has changed in version 2.3.x.

See http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/release-notes.txt
and look for the section:
- introduce a concept of 'mail_id'

Also from RELEASE_NOTES:

- default values of $virus_quarantine_method, $spam_quarantine_method,
  $banned_files_quarantine_method and $bad_header_quarantine_method
  now specify shorter file names based on the newly-introduced mail_id:
  virus-%m, spam-%m.gz, banned-%m and badh-%m respectively;
