Amavisd-new home page is located at There are plenty of docs and how-tos there. Amavisd-new works in conjunction with an antivirus package, ideally a daemonized one. It also has all the perl hooks to use spamassassin internally, as you would use spamd.
Each message that passes thru it gets scanned for spam (internally) and viruses (passing it to the antivirus daemon).
Good luck... Jörg Spilker wrote:
Hello, i´m currently using antivir (as avgate) to scan mail for viruses. I know also want to scan for spam. So i installed the amavis-new package (for suse 9.3), disabled avgate and starting amavis. It´s working but antivir and spamassasin get started for every single mail and this is really slow. I wasn´t successful until now to find any documents describing how amavis can use (if it can) antivir and spamassasin in daemon mode. Can you please just give me a hint.
