This shouldn't be a problem for your machine.
The most important parameter is the peak number of messages that you are
getting (of course, assuming that your machine can handle the total number
of messages in one day). This will cause delays if you receive more then you
can process.

I recently gave a presentation called "Building Enterprise E-mail Filtering
Gateway" on AusCERT 2005 conference, where I described our e-mail system at
the University of Auckland, New Zealand, which uses amavisd-new of course.
