Also worth looking at is the page at http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11/ which details various other causes for a signal 11. Definitely it is worth reading that page and seeing if any of those things affect you. FWIW, I'm also using F-Prot on FreeBSD 5.4 without problem (as a fallback scanner after F-Secure and H+BEDV) and I've never seen a segfault.
