Just a general comment: errors encountered by amavisd-new do not get
silently ignored: if there was a file protection problem, this would be
reported in the log as such, and the message tempfailed.

Also, every once in a while on this mailing list someone suggests
to check file permissions when the reported problem claims
file/directory/socket not found in the log.
If there was a permission problem, amavisd-new would report it
as a 'Permission denied', not as 'No such file or directory'.
