Turns out 85% of the time is used by the SA CHECK.
Sounds like time for more memory or a new relay server, yeah?

If they are the same priority MX records, both should be receiving
about the same mail rate. With newer versions of bind as a DNS server
you have some choices on randomizing/rotating the order of DNS
reply records, and it should be doing it by default.

Adding a third looks like a sensible option.
Alternative might be to enable graylisting to radically reduce the mail rate.
