amavisd-new requires Net::Server to be at least 0.83.
There is no requirement that it would be 0.88 - either 0.87 or 0.88
could be used as far as I can tell, use the one that works on your system.
For me (of FreeBSD) the 0.87 fails to change uid, but 0.88 works.

If not running under chroot, the universal solution is to provide username
by a command line option -u  (and optionally use the -g to provide a group).
This lets amavisd drop privileges early and does not depend on Net::Server
to do so.
