Is clamd running? It should show something like:
freebsd# ps aux | grep clamd
clamav 403 0.0 10.2 13068 12452 ?? Is 1:05PM 0:00.00
/usr/local/sbin/clamd
root 531 0.0 0.2 352 232 p0 R+ 1:08PM 0:00.00 grep clamd
You should also have:
clamav_clamd_enable="YES"
clamav_freshclam_enable="YES"
in /etc/rc.conf
Did you remove the comments from this:
# ['ClamAV-clamd',
# \&ask_daemon, ["CONTSCAN {}\n", "/var/run/clamav/clamd"],
# qr/\bOK$/, qr/\bFOUND$/,
# qr/^.*?: (?!Infected Archive)(.*) FOUND$/ ],
in the av_scanners section? Don't forget to stop and start amavisd if
you make changes to amavisd.conf.
