It loads the Mail::SpamAssassin Perl module into memory. Like spamd, amavisd-new
is daemonized, so it is fast.

Using spamc is not a configuration option, and because amavisd-new has
the ability to cache previous results, it is faster than using spamc.

If you wanted to use spamc/spamd, you would configure amavisd-new to
not perform any spam checks at all, then use spamc/spamd outside of
amavisd-new.

Yes

See "LEARNING OPTIONS"
http://spamassassin.apache.org/full/3.1.x/dist/doc/Mail_SpamAssassin_Conf.html

Yes, but this may have already happened without user intervention.

Not a mailbox user, your amavisd user. If you amavisd-new user is 'vscan':
su vscan -c 'sa-learn --sync'
will create the Bayes database if one does not exist. The Bayes files
should be located somewhere like /var/amavis/.spamassassin
(the .spamassassin directory of the home directory of your amavisd-new user).

One database is used for all mail that passes through amavisd-new, the
data belongs to your amavisd-new user (probably 'vscan' or 'amavis').
