Anne, > If I'm using Spam Assassin through amavis, can I still use user_prefs in > addition to the local.cf for whitelisting...
Not really. Regardless of the number of recipients in a mail, SA is called from amavisd once per message. There is no way to pass a list of recipients to it, and no way for SA to return different responses corresponding to a list after scanning a message. This is why amavisd-new supplies to SA always one and the same username. So, user_prefs can be turned on, but it will always see the same user vscan, which is not what you are after. > so individuals can have their own whitelists? > if so, can they add to that list themselves? amavisd-new does provide its own mechanism for white and black-listing, and (even better) a score-sender lookups (soft-whitelisting). This lookup table can be static or be a SQL table, in which case you can supply some GUI and let users adjust their w/b/s-list by themselves.
