Hello all,

I have the following:

Debian Sarge 3.1
Amavisd-new 2.3.3 (From source, not from Debian)
postfix 2.1.5-9
clamav 0.84-2.sarge.7
spamassassin 3.0.3-2

The issue I'm having is that Amavisd-new appears to be a killer on my RAM/SWAP. I expect it to be a memory hungry SOB but lately the process is constantly chewing on 300MB of SWAP. I don't see any errors or anything and don't think that this is "faulty operation" necessarily.. but I was wondering if this is the norm or if there are advanced settings I could use to limit SWAP usage. I had 512MB RAM and thought doubling that would help. However, I have the same amount of MEMORY/SWAP usage now with 1024MB installed.

This is *not* a high traffic email server... I'm only processing maybe 100 emails a day at tops.

Thanks for your help.

Hi

Maybe you should tell us what rules you are running?
If you're for whatever reason still running bigevil then this is pretty much normal...
So what SARE or other rulesets are activated?

Matt
