I think one issue that may pop up when upgrading to 2.3.3 is some newer
versions of external programs/modules may be required. On older distros
there is the possibility of dependency issues when trying to upgrade
those programs/modules. Sometimes this means necessarily getting away
from packages/ports and using CPAN/source. Fortunately, you can simply
pop in the new version of amavisd, grab the error message, pop back
in the old, and research upgrading the program/module it needs.
Lather, rinse, repeat. One new program you should install is pax.
http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/INSTALL.txt should give you a heads
up on some of the versions required/recommended.
