Hello everybody,
I am running clamav with amavisd-new 2.3.3. Is it
possible to have
virus-mail disinfected and sent to its intended
destination (ideally with
a notification of what has
happened)?
amavisd-new doesn't have any support for removing the virus
content.
Amavisd-new does have a $defang_virus parameter that wraps
the viral mail as an attachment and sends the whole thing
on to the recipient.
** This feature should be used with great caution as the
live virus is easily opened by the recipient.
If you just want to annoy your users with "we blocked a
virus" notices, look for the $warnvirusrecip parameter.
Disinfecting or notification of virus mail is a waste of
the recipient's time. These days virtually all email
viruses are self-generated by the virus itself using a
forged sender address, so nothing worth reading once the
virus is detected.
