No, it doesn't - except...

The only exception to that if is you turn on pen-pals, and
in that case the select clause in $sql_clause{'sel_penpals'}
gets used:

SELECT msgs.time_num, msgs.mail_id, subject
 FROM msgs JOIN msgrcpt ON msgs.mail_id=msgrcpt.mail_id
 WHERE sid=? AND rid=? AND ds='P' AND content!='V'
 ORDER BY time_num DESC LIMIT 1

It should have no effect, as long as you do not change msgs.content
for infected main from 'V' to something else.
