Stats for passed/blocked messages work fine, so it's not a problem with them. I think it's more like a problem with the number of viruses detected and/or a particular one that breaks it.
What's worse is that the newer version of rrdtool didn't produce any graphs at all... I don't think I can recoup logs from a year ago unfortunately. I might follow up with the rrdtool list to see if there's a way to 'fix it'. If not, I'll just keep on using the messages one (which does include the total number of viruses), which shows a very nice trend in increased spam received and process.
