Am I mistaken but in a postfix/amavisd-new setup you don't use spamd at
all?

Look at postfix pre-que filtering pro's / cons'.  The cons seem to
outweigh the pro's
(you need to hold open FOR A LONG TIME, AND LOTS OF THEM, many smtp
sessions.)

Postfix first, it will drop lots of crap before you have to send it to
amavisd/SA.
