Which version of SpamAssassin are you on?
Might be some version compatibility problem.
You should be on 3.1.7 or newer (if there is a newer one)

Try to run "amavisd" as "su - amavis" and see if you get any further errors.
There are not any strange loggings in your Syslogs?
