Hello,

we run a mailserver on Debian etch (amd64) with amavisd-new (Version:
1:2.4.2-6.1) and exim4 (Version: 4.63-17).
Yesterday suddenly no incoming mails were delivered to the local account from
where we grap these mails with our jana server (internal mail server).
The curious thing is that amavis seems to run normal because all incoming mails
were accepted and stored in exim's spool directory (but not delivered local).
After a restart of amavis all deliverys were done normal. After a search
through all relevant logs no trace of an abnormal behavior could be found. Only
exim's mainlog shows this error:

2007-04-11 15:51:39 1Hbd9j-0000a7-G7 SMTP timeout while connected to localhost
[127.0.0.1] after initial connection: Connection timed out

Could it be that amavis sometimes loses it's connection to the sockets? This
mailserver is under heavy load (approx. 20000 mails per day) but this fact
should not do any harm to amavis stability.

Thanks in advance

Gerd
