Right, or use mini_sendmail, e.g.:

$ mini_sendmail -s127.0.0.1 -p10024 [EMAIL PROTECTED] <file.msg

Or enable the old AM.CL protocol on a socket:
  $unix_socketname = "$MYHOME/amavisd.sock";
then you can use the 'amavis' helper program (found in the distribution)
to submit a file to amavisd-new:

$ su vscan -c 'amavis [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] <file.msg'

Forwarding can be disabled (mail will go to a bit bucket) by setting:
  $forward_method = undef;
