I think I may have found the root cause.  /home/mail/virusmails was missing. 
Perhaps accidentally removed.  The tmp directory that was full started on 
10/4, appears to have taken this long to have filled and cause the mails to 
stop entirely.  So apparently I don't need to do anything with those files 
and can delete them?

Normally should those subdirectories in /home/amavis/tmp go away on their 
own?  Should I be cleaning them?
