I couldn't agree more, tons of spam, hate spammers!! > better, clean up the 50gb quarantine, look at posts regarding > partition_tags. Yes, partition_tags is exactly what I'm doing. This database maintenance is to add the partition_tags, but it's going to take around 8-12 hours to complete the maint on a 50GB database. I can't have email offline that long to just shutdown amavisd during the maintenance. > You can use them with and/or without using real mysql partitioning. > > using partition_tag (one per week), even without mysql partitioning speeds > up dropping of old data in maddr, msgs, msgrcpts and quarantine tables. I am eager to get this done so the weekly cleanups are much faster. Right now it takes almost 3 days to cleanup based on a non-partitioned setup. So I am in 100% agreement with you on the steps to make this better; however, I need to take the 1st step first of updating the databases to support partition_tags, which includes re-indexing. I just need a way to do that and keep the legit email flowing while doing it. - N ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
