Apart from setting the "originating" flag, the other half of your problem is/was that recipient '<recip1>' was not a fully-qualified domain name, so it probably doesn't match your @local_domains_maps, unless you specified your individual recipient names there. You should configure your MTA to always append a domain name on recipient (and sender) addresses on mail submission if domain name is missing, or just reject such non-FQDN addresses (depending on site policy and practices).
