yes, you can, but why? no, the way amavisd-new does it is best.
if you run spamd, it spawns additional processes, loads spamassassin 
code and rules anyway.
if you want one server to do the scanning, that's one thing.  if you 
want to try to cut down on code, rule usage, then at least compile the 
SA rules
