Lamar, [ I'm cc'ing amavis-user in case somebody sees the light and decides to end the pickiness. Or let me know if it has already been done. My amavisd version is 2.4.5, it appears, vintage 1/30/2007. Or let me know what conf options will selectively end its pickiness about the messages I get repeatedly. I appreciate if it can find a real mess about attachments, etc., but quarantining two From: lines or three References: lines just seems overboard to me. I'd test 2.6.4 on single messages, but it's not clear to me how to do that. Note that a google search:
"bad header" site:marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=amavis-user gets exactly 1 hit, which is about IP Filter and SSH, not even about amavis. The howto (http://www.amavis.org/howto/) link gets 403 forbidden. The FAQ (http://www.amavis.org/amavis-faq.php3) link yields a page of HTML, hard to read but fairly short. All found by a google seach for amavisd site:sourceforge.net This needs work, guys. Enough with the notes for amavis-user, on to my note to Lamar. ] Several messages from you to nanog have ended up in my quarantine due to multiple References: header lines in the past week or so. No other post to nanog has done that. I just thought you should know about that. Maybe it's a kmail thing. I'm not sure why amavisd is picky about these non-perfect headers, it particularly annoys me on the Sun newsletters that John McLaughlin sends (problem there is two From: lines, but they're identical, and there the mailer is the Perl module, MIME::Lite 3.021), but that's what amavis does. In this case, maybe if the amavisd-new and kmail developers would fix it in some compromise if they knew about it. Or maybe they have, and one of us just needs to update our software, depending on which way the compromise went.
