Does anybody answer questions on this mailing list?
Yes, but only if they can provide a helpful suggestion.
I have no idea what would fix your problem, though if you have access to a test
system, you could try turning up the logging to 5, and
send one test email through, it will produce around 400 lines of log file, but
you will then see why it hasn't been whitelisted. You will probably find
there is a setting elsewhere that overrides the setting you have though I have
no idea where.

I certainly understand that. I can certainly try that route but I just
need to make sure that the format I'm using in the white.lst and the
black.lst files is correct. Namely, I read somewhere that a carriage
return must be present at the end of the files the .lst files. Also is
it required for domain to be prefixed with "." like .domain.tld? :
50-user config:
@whitelist_sender_maps=(read_hash("/etc/amavis/white.lst"));
@blacklist_sender_maps=(read_hash("/etc/amavis/black.lst"));
white.lst file:
domain.tld
[email protected]
black.lst file:
domain.tld
[email protected]
