    $sa_spam_subject_tag = '[SPAM: _(0)SCORE_] ';

Same thing as with '[SPAM: _SCORE(0)_] ', it causes the literal string 
'[SPAM: _(0)SCORE_] ' to be inserted into the subject, i.e. '_(0)SCORE_' 
does not get interpolated.
