So the host is back up and I manually restarted the ambari agent however the dot by the hostname itself is still red 'master down' .. (but I do see the components on the host now as red dots as expected)
Once the agent is running, shouldn't the status of the host be green again? The ambari agents are not setup for auto restart. You need to start them manually. The agent relies on the pid file for status of various components. After you start the agent you will see the components as STOPPED. Then you can start all the components from the UI. -Sumit From: Aaron Cody <[email protected]> Reply-To: <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, August 14, 2013 11:16 AM To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Subject: component/host health status mechanism? Hi folks So I installed a four node Ambari cluster and all was well. Then I unplugged one of the machines. The UI correctly turned that node to 'red' master down status. I powered the node back up waited a while, the host status changed to 'yellow' .. No heartbeat and that's as far as it went. Q: is the ambari agent supposed to auto-restart when the host is powered on? Q: what exactly does a component have to provide in order to be bound into the health status/heartbeat mechanism? Is it looking at pid files? Or is it different for every component? Basically, how does the agent determine the status of a component..? thanks CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE NOTICE: This message is intended for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed and may contain information that is confidential, privileged and exempt from disclosure under applicable law.
