Kaffe Matthews is playing at the cca on friday night. she's THE LisA chick! Good luck at Steim, adinda STEIM have a free download of another piece of software called Imagine which applies the same principles to video as sound, so you can chuck video around live in real time but i found the interface really unnecessarily complex but maybe thats just me. also you could apply effects in real time that were very prog rockish.ha! theres a manual there too. i dont have the steim url to hand.
John Butler's earlier B Creatures and bunnies rule by the way. so does i movie. and i dont care how things are made unless there is a politically motivated aesthetic choice attatched to work or indeed a lack of choice has bred new aesthetic factions which are made with very simple processes. artists generally cant afford software and operate in bootleg culture anyway. right now I am using strata 3D which is also free to download and its really quite nice and easy to pick up. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
address: 1 Up Left, 185 Byres Road Glasgow G12 8TS 0141-5608728 e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]I am just moving into the field of laptop performance and will start with LiSa exactly because it's supposed to be simple, I'm still to find out & currently waiting for the labtop first of all. One downside about LiSa though is that you can only have two simultaneous ins and outs, I wonder if there are any other mac programms which allow for more live channels to be sampled simultaneously.
I would be interested in doing a laptop jam once I've figured it out a little bit more. I must say though I am not a musician, I just love sound. Especially real/modified sounds because we live we these all the time anyway but are only subconsciously aware of them, for a lot of the time anyway. This subconscious 'nature' of our experience of sound makes it quite a powerfull tool. I am going to STEIM in February for a week of research and trying out - when are you performing there?
