Dear All,

Have just come across some general network reading which may be of some
interest. You can also find some historical analysis of European Cultural
Networks ranging from UNESCO and Council of Europe to various NGOs across
Europe.

The pro-European approach is no surprise as these are recent studies
carried out by the european institute for Progressive Cultural Policies
(eiPCP). Just a brief browse through their newly launched site on
http://www.eipcp.net will confirm these mixed feelings. Otherwise, the
eiPCP seems to be an independent institute based in Vienna with 'the
primary goals of strengthening networks and encouraging a radical
democratisation of European cultural politics'.

http://www.eipcp.net includes
1. [discourse]: few issues of the electronic journal, which is organised as a
multilingual textpool with various articles by alternative writers and
researchers

2. [studies]: including "European Cultural Networks and Networking in
Central and Eastern Europe". Here, you may want to check out the 'Networks'
section which provides this historical perspective on networking.

3. [index]: an index of European cultural networks. Don't hold your breath
on this one as it gives just the backbone of a few networks and is
unashamedly poor in the media/audiovisual section.

cheers,
-illie
