dear mandy,
in response to your question about interactivity,

i use the unreal game engine to create vr models. i would recommend this as
an alternative to vrml, as the game to buy (unreal tournament) is cheap 10
and there is large online community for help on tutorials using the bundled
editor.

only downside is that you need a copy of the game installed on each computer
to play the level. Epic games who make the game engine say there is no
artist/non-profit license to play levels.

There are, beyond the expected first person shooting features, 3D game
quality graphics with dynamic lighting etc, moving elements, a whole host of
triggers, avatars with ai, etc. if you wish to get invovled. it is not
difficult to use your own textures, models, sounds if you know how.

i have developed custom-made classes in the own language unrealscript to
play sounds according to movement, position and temporal relativity. think
an archaeological record of sound in vr space.

i would be happy to discuss more with you or any other of ambit

best wishes
andrew paterson
