"Fire Birth
A human form emerges from a dim submerged world. The body swims in the fluit
of an unconscious state between death and rebirth. Orange rays of light
penetrate the surface of the water, coming from the previous world, which
ended in fire. Now, illuminated by light of prior destruction, the human
essence searches for a way through this new underwater realm. It seeks the
material form and substance necessary for its rebirth"

from "Going Forth By Day" by Bill Viola,

Hi Simon,
You wrote that Bill Viola said in an interview recently that he thought the
theorist were winning the latest round in this battle (between academic
naval gazing and the tool obsessed geek artist')though it was a cyclic
thing.
He hoped that artists would focus on the making of work and
its emotional impact without being so self conscious that they feel they
have to justify it with big words.

I say congratulations to the theorists.
tell me if I'm wrong.
