JASIA REICHARDT in conversation with LEI COX
Sunday 2 June, 5pm
CCA 4
4/3

JASIA REICHARDT is a writer on art, science and technology based in
London. Between 1964 - 1971 she was Assistant Director at the ICA,
London and in 1968 curated the groundbreaking exhibition Cybernetic
Serendipity at the ICA. Cybernetic Serendipity is now recognised as a
major milestone in the development of art and technology. It explored
the links between the random systems employed by artists, composers and
poets, and those involved in the use of cybernetic devices. The
exhibition introduced the term computer art into the mainstream and
influencing artists to use computers to produce work.

LEI COX will talk about the development of his work from 1988 when he
started to exhibit his video and sound installations nationally and
internationally, to the present day and his solo exhibition at CCA. He
will talk about his work in relation to developments in science and
technology, such as developments in cloning research. The talk will
also look at how the artist has used computer software to manipulate and
create multiple moving images. Lei Cox currently lectures in Time Based
Art at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Dundee.
