Art in Hospital in Europe : Artist in Residence
The Paris-based Art dans la Cit�, in collaboration with Art in Hospital,
Glasgow, is organising a project: �Art in Hospital in Europe�. This
project will take place from October 2002 to March 2003 in Brussels,
Madrid, Paris and Glasgow. In Glasgow, the project will take place at
Yorkhill Hospital for Sick Children.
The residency will involve an artist working with children in paediatric
care to create a site-specific work for the hospital. A catalogue of the
4 projects will be published and an exhibition which will tour the 4
cities will be organised by L�Art dans la Cit�.
Artist�s brief:
Artists are invited to submit a proposal for a project working with
children attending the out-patient department at Yorkhill Hospital for
Sick Children in Glasgow. This department has 32 clinics seeing over 8000
children a week from all over Scotland.
It will be the remit of the artist to:
* develop a series of creative interventions in a paediatric healthcare
setting
* create a site-specific work from this collaboration with the children
A site has been identified in an inner courtyard leading off from the
out-patient department which is also overlooked by the children�s oncology
ward on the second floor. The artwork should be created in collaboration
with the children and will be mainly accessed by those attending the
out-patient department during the day but should also be of benefit to
children from the oncology ward.
The artist, in developing the proposal, should demonstrate an innovative
approach to this project whilst addressing the issues of working with
children up to the age of 16 in a paediatric healthcare setting.
It is anticipated the project will commence at the end of October 2002 and
run until mid-March 2003
Fees: � 6000, equivalent to around �4000.
This fee includes a budget for materials but additional funding could be
identified for the project if required.

photographs of recent work to:
