BILL DRUMMOND HOW TO BE AN ARTIST Monday 30 September - Friday 4 October 11am - 6pm Sunday - Wednesday 11am - 8pm Thursday - Saturday CCA 6 Free
PERFORMANCES Thursday 1 & Thursday 3 October, 8pm CCA 6 5 (4) Bill Drummond has used various strategies to explore the cultural landscape, including pop music, writing, and actions. In 1995 he bought 'A Smell of Sulphur in the Wind' by his favourite artist, Richard Long, for $20,000. In 1998 he discovered he was bored with it. After certain preambles and procrastinations he decided to divvy up the work into 20,000 equal sized bits and sell them at a dollar a throw. This process evolved into a book, a performance and an exhibition. Drummond will be at the CCA/Glasgow with all three, telling his story, seeking your advice and hoping to sell you a 1/20,000 of the original. WARNING: The title should not be interpreted literally.
