Dear ambit folk,

to start with my etiquette! Hello there! I'm Juliana Capes, an artist in
Edinburgh, currently working on projects at Protoacademy. Just recently
joined the list, and am fascinated to read so many interesting strands.

Just thinking along Gair's lines - r.e. meals, and I was having a similar
train of thought myself recently, having been to Su Grierson's and Diane
Maclean's LOOK 2002 weekend event in Perth over the summer, which was tea
and cake and slides and videos in the country, followed by a barbeque and
beers and chat in the night. It was set up to introduce a group of Baltic
artists that Su and Diane were hosting over two weeks to the Scottish arts
community, some of you were maybe there or ran into LOOK at other places. An
interesting side effect for me was actually meeting other folk from
Scotland there (you know the score, you know the name but not the face!),
and the way that it was generally agreed that it would be good for everyone
if it happened more often.

With this in mind i have been pondering to make this happen again, using
Protoacademy as a facilitator/host/room for this? Maybe we could be the
first of many different groups/places/spaces to host a dinner? So then the
question is, does any one want to invite themselves to dinner?
