Hi,
I'm replying to you all in case others have this problem. 2 things about this one:-

1. The best thing is to take out the card you attached. Sometimes if you attach a card
and there's a bad connection or it's otherwise corrupted (could be that you've blown
it with static from your hands or something if you haven't properly earthed yourself),
the mac just won't do anything. It looks like a total system crash. Remove the card
and it might work perfectly again. Maybe all you need is to take the card back and get
a correct one.

2. You need at least MacOS 8.6 to run USB stuff. You have to have that on your system
at the start. You can buy Mac 8.5 then there is a free upgrade from that to 8.6- check
what OS you're currently running.

(Actually just spoke to Gair and it's not one of these things- it sounds a bit more
like a major random conflict with a printer driver- these things happen occasionally
with any machine, though less in my experience with Macs than with PCs...)

There's a site called www.macfixit.com which is really good- this can tell you about
any conflicts etc with mac, and you can search for specific conflicts.

best,

alan munro
