Lawrence Lessig is a legal theorist and lawyer who is an advocate of open software development and anti-copyright. He was active in the legal battles against the Microsoft monopoly.
His "Free Culture" speech from last years "Open Source Convention" is a decent enough intro to his ideas and the ethical value of open, collaborative practice: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/policy/2002/08/15/lessig.html I'll be discussing some of these issues in greater detail in talk 5 of the Dundee talks. best wishes, Si. ------------------------------------------------- a m b i t : networking media arts in scotland post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] archive: http://www.mediascot.org/ambit info: send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and write "info ambit" in the message body -------------------------------------------------
