Does anyone please have any leads on how I can get a copy of this film or
contact the film maker? I tried google etc but the e-contacts I found are no
longer in use. Maybe a pointer to some 'underground' LA forum or discussion
group?
Deaf/Punk by Richard Gaikowski
1979, 16 mm, b&w/so, 8 min,
A dada-documentary of an unlikely liaison between punk rockers and the deaf
who for awhile shared the now legendary San Francisco Deaf Club. "We see
punk poseurs juxtaposed with the animated presence of deaf-mutes. Hands talk
and wave around as we hear the dirty R & B of The Offs. The film works
because of the concept of the environment." --
The Offs perform Zero Degrees and 624803. Superb camerawork by Joegh Bullock
and Doug Kipping.
