Genetic engineering already entered arts, the boundaries between genetic

familiar term. With its motto `Larger than Life the EMAF has invited media
artists to reflect the rapidly progressing development in (life) sciences.
In addition to the prize of the German film critic, this year the `Werkleitz
Award for excellent digital media productions will be awarded. This years
retrospective is dedicated to the works of influencial Canadian film maker
Michael Snow, who was honored with special exhibition at the Centre Pompidou
by the end of last year.
Again the central location of the festival will be the exhibition at the
`Kunsthalle Dominikanerkirche, where from April 23rd to May 18th video-
and computer installations, media-sculptures, projections and interactive
systems will be on display.
In cooperation with the Erich-Maria-Remarque peace center the EMAF presents
a European premiere: Colombian artist Manuel Echavarra, who already had an
exhibition at the MoMA New York, reflects in his videos and installations
the everyday violence of his war-torn country.
One of the performance program`s highlights will be presented in the
congress hall of the Stadthalle Osnabrck.. The Swiss project `Stage TV is
a unique combination of traditional circus performing and juggling with the
possibilities offered by video techniques and computer animation.
