PUBLIC ART / PERFORMANCE etc OPPORTUNITY: a curtain raiser for Refugee Week.
Refugee Week is an international celebration of the contribution refugees and asylum seekers make to our culture and an awareness raiser of the reasons people seek sanctuary here. Bells Bridge is the partially covered footbridge over the River Clyde between the SECC / Armadillo and the Science centre. We have secured the use of the bridge for a Saturday afternoon of culture on the 14th June. Anyone else want to do anything? We (you!) have permission to do anything reasonable including have a picnic, draw on the floor, hang stuff off the roof and generally perform and make noise. A quality sound system will be available for amplification of poetry, audioworks, music etc. but quiet and silent participants most welcome too. The bridge will open and close at least once on the day too (to let the paddle steamer upriver), if you didn't have enough inspiration... What you do doesn't have to be particularly connected to themes of refugee issues (plenty of that at GOMA) or multiculturalism.
