The animation work featured in this screen work has been produced by examining, in micro detail the record groove of a self made flexi-disk vinyl recording. The animation is a representation of this groove slowed down to half a revolution per minute and the corresponding pitch change in audio by running the disk at such slow speed. The image data in this work has been computer generated from an ultra high scan of the record surface [see picture]. The artist is currently working on a complimentary work using an electron microscope at 500x magnification to replicate the process in realtime through Glasgow University. Materials: Longplayer-[homemade record maker], acetate flexidisk,Epson scanner. Software-3D Studio Max, Terragen, Logic, Photoshop, After Effects.
