Hotel Bellville is an artist run independent project
space in Waterloo, London, run by artists Robin
Kirsten and Russell Martin. Our aim is to show the
work of little-known but talented (or at least
interesting) artists, and present events and seminars
to the unsuspecting London public. We also
disseminate information about these artists on our
website.
We are always looking out for new artists to exhibit -
please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] for
more information.

TJORG BEER: Action Bridgehead 1 – 3
Hotel Bellville presents, in three parts, an
anthropological survey of the contemporary Hamburg art
scene. Hamburg is revealed in a series presenting the
forthcoming neo-German Expression. Cultivated through,
in and around Hamburg’s smallest white cube,
Austellingsraum Taubenstrasse 13, are several of
Germany’s next generation. Launched in a night of a
thousand stars in 1999, this milleneum angst-ridden
culture scene, presented to Hamburg a swing towards a
new direction that proposed everything else.
After four years, exhibiting across the EEC and the
East, Austellingsraum Taubenstrasse 13 is heading for
London where we will present 35 of Hamburgs bright
young things.
Action Bridgehead: 1
(18 – 27 September 2003, preview 18 September, 7pm )
First up is a solo show of the Hamburg artist Tjorg
Beer. He has shown extensively on the international
circuit his auto-destructive landscapes, constructed
from naïve landscape scenarios commonly found in
Playmobile, milk cartons and sugary sweet-scapes. His
responses to the new German conception of land and
space, betrays the infidelity of uber-utopian dreams
and suburban delight. His ouevre can be seen as both a
spearhead for the continuing culture construction of a
hyper-real interpretation common to this new
generation, and a betrayal of the great white hope.
His work literally goes bang in front of your eyes.
Action Bridgehead: 2 and 3
( 2 – 5 October and 9 - 12 October 2003, two previews
on 2 and 9 October, 7pm)
To further present and show the trope that is the new
Hamburg art house, we have curated, in two sharp
shocks, all that needs to be seen. Each show delivers
a concise investigation of everything else and
everyman. These group shows cover the socio-political
background that is variously presented as a nebula of
a pan-national awareness, concurrent with the
globalization of culture. The shows will travel to
Zurich and Berlin, as an excavation of the
deconstructed culture of the new world order. These
shows are a future museum of what it means to be in
the present
Artists included are:
Tatjana Greiner, Sebastian Zarius, Marco P. Schaefer,

Piller, Emanuel Geisser, Kerstin Stoll, Stephan
