Beagles and Ramsay
"House of the Rotting Flesh"

For this exhibition Beagles and Ramsay have produced a series of new works developing some central and longstanding themes within their practice.
Achieving immortality through surviving fatal scenarios, the propagation and bastardisation of Old Masters /contemporary artists techniques, the effects of consumerism and hysterical celebrity worship and the re-enactment of urban and historical myths placing the pair as the central protagonists have all been common concerns.
This new body of site specific works includes a glitterball skull, wall painting and the miniature severed heads of the artists displayed within a graffitied whale. The latter is set against a sumptuous recreation of an arctic ice landscape inspired by Casper David Friedrich and Moby Dick.
Beagles and Ramsay have recently exhibited at Gasworks Gallery, London and as part of the Zenomap project at the Venice Biennale. John Beagles is a part time lecturer in CVCS at Edinburgh College of Art and Graham Ramsay has recently launched his new Flying Pig import export business
There will be a commissioned text accompaniment by John Calcutt available at the exhibition.
