TASI digital imaging workshops in March/April 2004

The JISC Technical Advisory Service for Images is pleased to announce the
following workshops which will take place in March and April 2004. Our
workshop programme covers all aspects of digital imaging; providing
practical hands-on skills to those exploring digital media.

March 25th Image Capture for Beginners

Provides an introduction and overview of digital imaging and includes
practical exercises using a scanner and digital camera. Just the thing to
get you past all the digital jargon and using the equipment effectively
in your day to day work. This is the first in a series of three TASI image
capture workshops. Will be run at TASI training suite at the
University of Bristol.

March 30th Creating Quality Metadata for Digital Images

To the uninitiated, metadata can seem a dry and complicated issue. This
workshop takes a lively and practical approach. It considers metadata
schemas and controlled vocabularies and looks at how these can be
used, pragmatically, within a comprehensive metadata framework for an
imaging project. Please Note: This workshop is complemented by TASI's
Image Management course (April 23). Note: This workshop will be held at The
Robinson Library, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, NE2
