Artist Submissions Wanted at the National Institute for Medical Research, London. The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is a large public institute in North London concentrating on basic medical research in the fields of Neurosciences, Structural Biology, Infections and Immunity and Genes and Cellular Controls. An Art Programme focussing on research based residencies and short visits has existed since 1998.
Previous residencies have involved artists including Zarina Bhimji, Janice Kerbel, Emily Wardill and Ansuman Biswas. We are now looking for proposals of interest from artists for the coming year. An interest in science is essential but no experience in the field is necessary. The emphasis of the programme has always been to encourage interesting dialogue between artistic and scientific practitioners that will benefit both parties. Simple illustration of scientific ideas is not encouraged with process taking precedent over product. Interested artists should send a CV, jpegs or slides of previous work and a statement of no more than 500 words saying why you would be interested to visit NIMR. Please send these to mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] or: Simon Gould, Art Programme, NIMR, The Ridgeway, London NW7 1AA If you would like to find out more about the programme, please email Simon Gould at mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] or call on 020 8816 2476.
